P90X Week One Completed!

I am now on my resting day of P90X. The first week turned out to be much more intense than I had expected. I had the most difficulties with the Plyometrics and Yoga X workouts, but overall I found out I was not in shape! The first few workouts I could really feel my muscles hurting the days following, and I was not able to do all reps that they do in the videos. My first week of P90X did however give me a better feeling about myself. I am proud to say that the last time I did the Ab Ripper X I was able to completely finish the video doing every rep. I was not able to do it on time, some parts I had to pause and go a bit slower than what they were doing, but I was able to do it all!

I have been using moderately light weights for this first week, Continue reading

What Exercise Equipment is Needed for P90X?

P90X offers an array of different workouts that work several muscles in the body, and to get the most out of your workout you will want the appropriate equipment to work with. If your wanting real results with a continous results even after you finish the program your going to need the proper items to continue building muscle.

Equipment for working out does not always have to be a huge total bowflex gym or other elaborate exercise equipment setup. For P90X there is not nearly as many pieces of equipment required than what I had been expecting. In fact you can get by most workouts with a set of resistant bands. These are the equipment that you definately should have or consider having for maximum performance and result in your 90 day P90X workout period:

  1. A dvd player or something Continue reading

P90X Preparing For Day 1 workout

Tommorrow I will begin my 90 days of P90X. I feel like I am in decent shape and that I shouldn’t have to much difficulties with these workouts. I will be taking the Body Fortress Creatine Supplement drink to help build muscle faster. My dad will be taking vitamins.

Tommorrow my workout is the Chest and Back, + the Ab Ripper X videos. I will be using 8lb dumbells for my first week to get the feel of things. I will also use the Iron Gym Extreme Pullup bar for my Chin ups and pull ups. These items are required for the P90X Chest and Back workout. They also suggest having a towel and water handy for every workout you do. For my Ab Ripper X workout I’ll have my towel and water, with a yoga mat.

Tommorrow I will begin my first workout in the evening. I plan on working out towards the afternoon. I will be following the Classic version of P90X, not the Doubles or Lean version. Classic means that it is the regular version, Continue reading

Power 90 Day Workout: Preparing For Day 1

Ok so now comes my prep for Day 1 of my 90 day workout using power 90.  I have all the home workout equipment I need.  So ,I followed the instructions given in the power 90 insturctions and took my day 1 photo. I’m a bit reluctant to show it as it shows just how desperately in need of exercising I truly am. Taking your day one picture will give you the opportunity to visually gauge how effective your exercise routine is working.  Even if you’re not doing the power 90 in home boot camp I encourage you to do the same as both an inspiration to improve your physical health as well as something for comparison as you progress through your workout program.

In addition to the photo, I have calculated exactly how much body fat I truly have using the 90 workout calculator that I have for my power 90 fitness program.  It includes taking multiple measurements of your body including, height, weight, biceps, thighs, waist, chest and hips. Knowing these measurements will allow you to have something you can go back and check later to see how much progress you’re making with your weight loss, fat burning and muscle building during your exercise program.  Continue reading

What Exercise Equipment Do I Need To Do Power 90

Being the planner that I am and one that loves to do research, which you can tell by my last post why I decided to do the power 90 in home boot camp. I had to know what type of exercise equipment I was going to need in order to meet the most out of my 90 workout program.  Power 90 has far few requirements for equipment than I had anticipated.  The basic list of thins you need are:

1. Something to play the exercise videos on either a DVD player or a laptop with DVD drive. I have used both

2. Dumbbells.  In order to get the most out of the Sculpting 1 -2 circuit you should have some sort of hand weight that will allow you to do curls and other similar weight lifting exercise with.  I was fortunate in the fact my daughter and son had several light weight dumbbells already 5-10lb is all I needed to get started considering my physical condition.

3. An Alternative to dumbbells would be to use resistance bands.  Resistance bands are long elastic bands that come in various color coded sized equal to the various sizes of dumbbells that are available.  You can buy these through the Power 90 website but they are readily available at just about any big box retail or sporting good store. P90X: Why I decided to begin P90X

I’m about to begin a 90 day workout schedule known as P90X. P90X has become incredibly popular, and I remember when it first came out everyone was always talking about it. Everyone knew about it, but nobody I knew had it. I had always been asking for a weight set, pull-up bar, punching bag, and other sorts of exercise equipment. Well this Christmas I got a complete weight set, bench press bar, curl bar, with iron weights from 50′s to 2.5′s, and to my surprise it came with a copy of P90X.  At first I was skeptic and more or less happy about the weights. I didn’t think much of the P90X until I realized that lifting weights were great, but I wanted a six pack too. At this point I decided I’d try the P90X ab ribber x, and I had underestimated how difficult it would be. Continue reading

Power 90: Why I Decided To Start The Workout

Deciding on why to do the Power 90 workout series for me was a no brainier.

  1. Im way over weight – maybe even considered to be obese
  2. I cant walk up stairs without huffing and puffing
  3. I was diagnosed as a Diabetic and my doctors recommended exercising regularly to control my sugar levels
  4. I was watching my son do p90X and knew it would be too difficult of an exercise program for me to start unless I wanted a quick trip to the emergency room

As you can see making the decision to start using Power 90 workout series didnt take much effort on my part.  Actually starting the fitness series was a different story. I thought long and hard about how difficult it was going to be, the time it was going to take and whether or not I was even physically capable of doing it in the first place.  Like many people I started doing my research on google to find out exactly what all was involved in starting the power 90 workout series.
